Ep 1010: The dragon cultists almost get us

When last we left our adventurers, we were deep in battle with some dragon cultists and a blue dragon. The low level cultists were all dead, the mid level and two high level cultists were very much alive. Itanis the wizard is badly hurt, Leovan the ranger and Tsedek the rogue are doing damage to the bad guys, Magnus the paladin is flat on his keester, and Elle the wizard is off to the side after doing the sword-strike. There were 5 fairly healthy cultists still on the ground, and the blue dragon had taken off in flight.

So Itanis turns himself into a Tyrannosaurus Rex and roars. Leovan and Tsedek do more damage, they were damage machines this fight. Magnus gets up and swipes at one of the bad guys. Then Elle gets a go. So she steps the 15' up to Magnus, puts a hand on his arm and cast Dimension Door. DD is basically a short-range teleport spell. Yes, that's right, her and Magnus teleport onto the pissed off injured blue dragon's back.

On the ground the T-Rex, our Ranger, and Rogue are smacking hard on the remaining ground troops. The ranger also took a pot-shot at the dragon (he's primarily long-bow based).

Meanwhile in the sky the dragon tries to nope out of having riders by doing barrel rolls and loop-de-loops. First stunt, we both hold on. Second stunt, Elle starts to slip, so Magnus grabs her and yanks her back onto the dragon.

After that stunt it was our turn. Magnus proceeds to bring the hammer down (well, maul, really) ... and kills the dragon. Which then starts dropping like the very large stone it is now.

So Elle uses DD again to get them both back to the ground carefully placing Magnus near enough to combat that he can be immediately effective, but in front of Elle so she doesn't get hit. Limitation of Dimension Door is both passengers have to be within 5' of each other.

Another round of smacking on the bad guys and they manage to hit the t-rex hard enough to break his concentration needed to keep the polymorph going, so he drops out of it. Bad guys hit Itanis again and he drops to the ground.

So Magnus steps in between the bad guys and heals Itanis. Mind you, by this point in the fight Magnus is down to 15hp himself and the bad guys do a heck of a lot of damage each round.

Leovan and Tsedek take out another one of the bad guys, but there's still 3 left, so Elle steps to the side and lands a fireball on Magnus. Leovan, being the slightly paranoid of Elle sort then yells "She's lighting them all on fire!!!!!" LOL Of course Elle excluded the party from damage.

Another round of melee/arrow damage and they finished off the bad guys.

It was a very close battle. We did, and took, a lot of damage. So now we're having dragon steak for dinner while claiming the blue dragon head skull to mount on the keep's walls next to the white dragon head skull. Perhaps a little dwarven whiskey shall be consumed as well.
