From Elle's standpoint at the end of last session things were not going so well. She's standing alone on the "road" through the webs and can only see Leovan and Itanis -- both of which are currently webbed. Magnus is currently webbed but she knows where he is because of the glowing helmet. Tsedek is still no where to be found.

Tsedek went first and killed the new spider in one shot, then ran out of the webs and back in view. He then proceeds to start cutting Itanis out of his web. Then it was Elle's turn. She's quite freaked out at this point (and I seriously considered listing out her possible actions and rolling a dice to decide which to do) but since Tsedek was back in view and she knew where Magnus was, she launched a slightly overpowered fireball at the chittering spiders that were left.

And killed them all. As Magnus hollered save the spells! <oops> To be fair, Elle was kinda freaked out (she's bold and brash, she's not always the bravest, which shows when she gets in over her head).

Magnus got himself out of the webs, then came out and got Leovan out of the webs. Leovan has a history of getting stuck in webs and Magnus was amused that "all the stories were true".

So then we returned to travel mode. We kinda wanted to stop, but Magnus found it unacceptable to stop and rest and potentially let the green dragon destroy another village. So he encouraged us to keep going, though several of us were concerned about fatigue and spell quantities remaining. Thankfully Magnus did clear up Elle's poisoning and Leovan did a healing spell that helped Tsedek and Elle.

Leovan and Tsedek scouted ahead while Itanis and Elle kept up the flaming spheres, though Elle switched to riding Leovan's horse as Leovan and Tsedek decided stealth was more important. But we finally got clear of the webs. And decided to keep going. Or was urged to keep going by Magnus.

So we reverted to the trick in the white dragon cave where we had Leovan and Tsedek scout ahead, Itanis went up a ways as relay, and Elle and Magnus hung back waiting. Magnus does not stealth at all ... plate armor doesn't lend itself to hiding and being quiet. And our scouts found a beautiful waterfall into a pool and confirmed it was the dragon cave.

And we kept going, the new plan was to get into the entrance and block it with wall of force and camp. But we had to cross the pool of water. Four of us could handily cross it, however, the tin can among us is better at sinking than swimming. He tried, he really did, but rolling at disadvantage due to the plate armor did catch up to him eventually. Once he failed his swimming roll, Magnus went blub blub blub and Misty Stepped onto the ledge.

Our motivated party kept going though rather than resting. OK, mostly Magnus. Darned Vengeance Paladins and desire to smite evil. So back to Tsedek and Leovan scouting ahead, Itanis Elle and Magnus hanging back.

So the entrance is a ledge that leads to a 30' long hall that slopes downward and is covered in algae and is wet and quite slippery. At one point on the way down Leovan slipped and Tsedek caught him, further along Tsedek slipped and Leovan caught him. So Magnus summoned his war horse and tied a rope to the horse to use as a rappelling base. Itanis used his staff to cast spider climb on himself and Elle, so we did a spiderman down the tunnel. Always staying 30' or more behind the rest of the party to not break their stealth mode.

After a 45 degree turn and another 30' of tunnel things opened up in to a large cave with stalagmites and such, and across the cave there is a door guarded by a group of traitorous elves.

This is where we leave our adventurers for this episode. Four of us are full health, Elle is mildly hurt at this point. Elle and Itanis have blown through a fair amount of spells. Elle has no 2nd or 3rd level spells left at all. This will limit her combat maneuverability, but she still has some powerful damage spells left. We're all kinda in that spot of we should have rested before taking on the dragon, but were being motivated by Magnus.
