OK when last we left this discombobulated bunch of adventurers we were fighting some poachers. We were dealing with the ground troops fairly well, but the tree bound poachers were definitely getting the better of us.
As we resumed combat we started hearing wolves howling, and then screaming from the tree towers. Then silence, and no more arrows peppering us. Then a pair of wolves and a wolf-human hybrid (lycanthrope? we're not sure) show up with us on the ground and polish off the last ground troops as well.
Then they leave, leaving us a bit bewildered. We know that this is Neria's sacred woods, and she has a close connection with wolves, and we know wolves are sacred in this area, so we hadn't attacked. But we weren't entirely sure where they came from or why they took out the last of the poachers.
After regrouping from that and realizing we're going to need to rest soon, Vohn and Malek went ahead to scout. They're not as good as Meghan in survival, but they are stealthier. Meghan sent Paul (the hawk) along with them so we had lines of communication, just in case. Malek and Vohn aren't the strongest people.
They discover some cabins on stilts by the river, unoccupied, and they seem like a good place to bed down for the night so Paul indicated to the rest of us to come ahead. The rest of the party gets to the cabins and the Malek/Vohn duo decide to scout ahead a little more just in case. Paul went with them again.
They found a waterfall with an occupied cave behind it with 3 entrances, but it was far enough away they felt we were safe for the night so they returned. Vohn decides to make a trap for one entrance, and we plan on attacking from the other entrance. The third entrance is right behind the waterfall so we decide to leave it be.
That night while we slept, Meghan had a very fun dream, controlled by either Neria herself or one of her minions. After a bit of exploration and banter, we came to the meat of the vision and she delivered a riddle. "Skin to fur, a sin with a price. Skin to fur, a return from illusion. Wildfires start, magic dies, the past returns." She also gave Meghan a spell to be used on the party but did not give the details of what the spell does.
So the next morning when we woke up Meghan delivered the meat of the missive from the lady and then promptly cast the spell on Fizzledorp, figuring if the paladin accepts an unknown spell cast on him the rest of the party won't kill her. LOL
And then Fizzledorp does the funky chicken while chanting something. This had nothing to do with the spell though, which was successfully cast on everyone during breakfast and morning routines.
