Ep 1008: Paladin does an epic

So we start off with a pissed off white dragon who has trapped the Paladin and the Rogue on one side of the ice wall, the wizards on the other. The Ranger was up on a ledge. The white dragon, being mortally wounded, used a lair trick to ice-burrow out of range as Elle runs at the wall throwing a fireball. Basically, she pulled a coolaid man.

Just as we caught our breath, the winds changed an in charged a larger, angrier white dragon. Let's call him papa dragon. He's big, he's mean, he's mad and he's pulling no punches.

He swiped at the ranger on his way through then descended towards the rest of the party. Much to-do was going on. The ranger critical hit twice with arrows. The rouge (tiefling) did this weird run up the ledge bounce off double stab with daggers and kept going thing which was quite epic. Elle lobbed an immolation spell, sadly the dragon made his saving through so he only took 1/2 damage and didn't continue to burn. Itanis lobbed his animated objects (caltrops) with a scorching ray chaser.

But the star of this episode was the Paladin. Magnus did this leap and misty-stepped up to land on the dragon's back. And stuck the landing. So he did what any vengeance Paladin would do. Smite thee, twice, with the holy hammer.

Now, papa dragon didn't take kindly to this and proceeds to scrape paladin off his back against the ceiling of the cave, so now paladin is falling. But then papa dragon tried to get away. So the paladin swiped at dragon with his Sentinel attack of opportunity which basically makes the fleeing suspect fail to flee. So now the dragon is right next to the falling paladin. Dragon did a lair stunt to generate some sort of cloud of frozen fog.

So Itanis did the animated objects/scorching ray chaser at the angry white dragon, and finishes off the dragon.

Magnus is still falling straight for one of the slushy water holes and being as he's in full plate, this will not end well for him. So what does the idiot paladin do? Misty steps back to land happy as can be.

Not Elle's best encounter (she kept failing the wisdom checks and getting scared by the dragons) and then the fire didn't do as much damage as she'd normally prefer. Tonight in Leomond's Tiny Hut there shall be dwarvish whiskey consumption, Elle's grumpy.
