It's apparently been too long between sessions for this game, so this is going to be a combo platter of story as I do not remember all of the details of the previous session.
Also for the two sessions covered in this story, Fallos' player was unavailable. This GM has decided to go an ... interesting ... route. If a player isn't available the character is getting hit with a bout of narcolepsy and falls asleep on the spot (and out of combat so is safe). Anyway, on to the makeup of this game!
Bucky, our friendly neighborhood Goblin of the fire-bombing persuasion
Ashryn, the scarred and stoic Elven fighter
Wazboot, our steady Human cleric
Fallos, the outgoing Halfling swashbuckler
Splint'r, the unmet rat-folk monk
Kajar, the unmet Half-Elf summoner
When we last left this group of souls they were mid battle with some goblins bent on destruction. But we're fighting well and after a couple of rounds of smacking on this batch of goblins we're able to defeat them.
As the sounds of fighting die down, Wazboot heals up a couple of people and Father Zantus arrives in the town square. He makes his way over to us, clears his throat, and starts thanking the party for their efforts in saving the town. He introduces himself, and we introduce ourselves. Turns out the rat-folk doesn't speak any Common*, but through Father Zantus' translation we are able to learn his name at this point.
Also while this is going on Kajar starts summoning, and this odd creature arrives. He calls it his Eidolon. It is a purple, four legged dog sized creature with a giraffe like neck.
After catching our breaths, introductions, and the Eidolon summoning Ashryn finally decides to ask - rather demand - to know why this town was unsecured during such frivolity. She just started getting the question out when we hear screaming to the North East "help me! help me!"
So off we went in the direction of the screaming.
About 100 yards up the lane from the town center we find the source of the screaming. There's a few goblins and some sort of goblin leader accosting a man and his dog. The dog was killed as we arrived upon the scene, and the goblins turned their attention to the man. So we rolled in to stop the goblins from killing the man at least.
While they did manage to get a good chomp on the screaming man, we were able to kill off them before much more damage was done. Bucky managed to hit Splint'r with one of his fire-bombs while taking out goblins this time.
After the fight was over the man stood up, sort of straightened his attire, and lamented the loss of his favorite hunting dog. Once he started speaking we realized that he was some sort of Noble of this country.
He introduced himself as Aldern Foxglove, and asks to know the names of his rescuers, so we introduced ourselves. He then completely fixated on Ashryn, much to her extreme discomfort, and started calling her beautiful. He then held out his hand, so she removed her gauntlet and held out her hand for a handshake. But no, he's a nobleman, so he takes her hand and kisses the back of it.
She's ready to punch the guy. So instead she demands to know why a noble such as himself is outside without his guards. Which sent him back to lamenting his poor dog, and how they just went out for some fresh air never expecting any trouble. He then says he needs to get going and he's staying at the Rusty Dragon and please do stop by.
Ashryn has no intention of ever stopping by the Rusty Dragon.
At this point the combat sounds are pretty much over so the towns folk start stirring in their homes and poking their heads out to see if it is safe.
And they start with "It's the Heroes of Sandpoint!"
More soon!
*Common is the universal language that typically all characters can speak. There are exceptions, of course.
