This is a new game that started rather abruptly as a pair of Tabaxi ran through a group of adventurers while being chased by extremely pissed off very large primates. We left off mid fight. Today the fight resumed.
The odd ogre proceeds to continue pummeling the primate in his face with, of all things, a wizard's staff. Hits him solidly, but the primate took offense at that and hit him back hard. The ogre is not looking so good.
So the large cow fellow bellows, puts his head down to let the horns lead the way, and barrels into the fight kinda stepping around the ogre. Somehow though he completely misses the primate/trips on something and falls flat on his buttocks. He still roared defiantly at the primate though.
The grey dwarf then proceeds to pummel the primate, nailing him directly in a very private place, killing it. So the whole party's focus swung to the primate closer to the entrance of the cave.
Jack proceeds to taunt that primate and proceeds to scan the area around us taking in information, but stops to say "hey, now, you shou... wait!" as Selene steps around the giant shield and walk closer to the ogre to heal him.
The odd wizard-archer fellow unloads several rounds on the still alive primate doing a lot of damage. The primate returns the favor tossing rocks at the party. And then the ogre shoots a magical hand at the primate, which basically zooms the ogre into the primate's face. The large cow fellow and grey dwarf join the Ogre in the primate's face.
Jack continues his taunting, using very colorful language, from the rear of the party. Selene decides to add to the damage being dealt to the primate by adding magical snowballs to the mix. Not as effective as she had hoped.
But then the wizard-archer unleashed another volley of very deadly bolts at the primate and the ogre unleashes one final killing blow, ending that primate's life as well.
So then the wizard-archer turned to face the Jack and Selene and goes "oy, so, who are you two and what are you doing here?"
Jack straightens his hat, clears his throat, and proceeds to explain "You see, now, there's this fellow that had a run in with these apes. And he needed them taken care of and I thought I could talk them into, you know, vacating the premises." Selene then interrupts and say "An alchemist hired the Talons, who hired us, to get the primates out of the alchemist's home. He thought he could talk them out, of course. You know you should introduce yourself."
"Oh, quite right, Jack Burrington at your service!" You see a tall catfolk male with a brilliant smile, feathered hat on his head with a stylish coat over a tunic and pants with a belt, nicely tailored and well fitting. Clean cut all around and well groomed. You see a rapier on his left hip and a flute dangling from his right hip. On his back you see a large box-like object maybe 4 foot long, wrapped up and attached via a strap that goes across his chest. Fur is golden tan, (like a tabby cat) with dark eyes. His personality full of positive energy, oozing confidence and charisma.
In a fairly soft, deeper than expected voice, you hear: "I am Selene Zarif, chosen of Oghma." She is about 6' tall and fairly thin, with creamy-white fur that has brownish-black spots all over, wearing robes and a typical travelers backpack. She does have a light crossbow at her side. After a bit of a scramble you see a large heavily furred brown-black house cat settle himself on the top of her backpack, head/front paws on right shoulder, back paws on left shoulder. "And this odd creature I just call Minik Kedi, he seems to follow me for food." The super observant would see a silver chain around her neck with a pendant on it.
"Greetings, I am Viktor "Threefists" Kurgen. Pleasure to be meeting you." He has a heavy accent. He is a 4'3" well built Gray Dwarf. Has Gray skin, a white beard and white eyes. He is well built and thick with large hands. He wears bright reds and yellows and a set of chain mail that leaves his arms bare. This hands and forearms, which you saw him use in combat, are heavily scarred and calloused. Upon his head he wear a large rigged helm with a strange dark glass-like shield that covers his eyes. He also has some claw-like tattoos on the backs of his hands.
"And I am Lutor. I grew up amongst a breed of elite fighters, serving as the guard of the noblemen and women of Northern Laria, specifically a wealth landowner and noble, Lars Von Elrond, who dealt in the armanents trade. Long story short, I eventually grew weary of the life that I found myself in and walked away from it all. Along the next dark period of my journey, I found my purpose and now aid and support another cause." Lutor is a 6'9" 290lbs Minotaur, menacing in size, with subtle cleric robes, chain shirt and tower shield that he stores on his back, an amulet around his neck and horns, with one horn that is broken at the tip.
"I am Malek. It is a pleasure to meet you." He doesn't divulge past details of his life sporadically upon meeting strangers. .
Malek is a red Tiefling with 2 decent size horns on his head that curve backward. He has a brown leather trench coat/cloak, and within it (most of the time) is a tiny little Compsognathus (Compy) which is a bit of a familiar. He has a somewhat stern look about him, but not angry. He kinda furls his brows when he starts thinking through things. Under his coat he has a very nice set of chainmail, which has a regal look about it. It would give the distinct impression of a type of armor that might be worn by a paladin. And upon it is icon of a butterfly. It might give a bit of a sense of a holy symbol, though the Bard is likely unsure about which deity it represents. He holds a very high quality light crossbow, that while inert right now, during combat it has arcs of electricity and cycles through bolts which appear to be connected together on some sort of rotating spindle thing. It appears to have intricate levers and magical etchings. After the combat is over, and periodically during conversations you may notice him cycle something through it, rack some mechanism, reset something, etc (giving the impression he is making sure it is always at the ready).
Jack, upon seeing Viktor's tattoos "You'll have to tell me the story behind those one day my friend!"
"Not much to tell. Got them last week. They make punches harder." He says this as he indicates the ruined "area" of the Ape he killed.
Looking disappointed, Jack responds "We're going to have to work on your storytelling skills."
"Oh, I have story. Just not these. When we have break I tell you story of time in Dwarven Kingdom where I fight bear."
Jack perks right up at that. "Now that's more like it! What's your drink of choice, friend? I know a few good taverns in the area we can make a night of it."
"Gutbuster is favorite, but ale works too. Sound like good plan. We will do that if you don't die."
Selene quietly interjects at this point with "Jack, I believe your party tendencies need to wait a little while yet."
"Nonsense! Knowing there's fun, drink, warm food and friends makes even the gloomiest cave a bit brighter!" As he indicates the cave tunnel leading further in the dark.
"I like this one!" exclaims Viktor
While that is all going on we had wandered into the cave to see the utter destruction of the alchemist's laboratory. While general chatter was going on, Selene started to say something but stopped, so Jack interjects with "She's a quiet one, I'm the talker of this relationship." His voice goes up at this point as Selene whips her head around to do the raised eyebrow death glare "NO! NOT relationship! We're just colleagues!"
And that's where we will leave this group for now. More soon!
