Episode 18: Its a day of surprises

When last we left this band of adventurers we were locked in a room with a Drow sorcerer. He seemed a bit unamused at the "taint" of traveling to the dream world that surrounds us and immediately became threatening. So, we threatened back!

Meghan is currently in half-drow form as she had dropped the cat form at the end of last session. And as the sorcerer has tendrils of creepy surrounding him, so she's not sure her or Paul should touch it. So she stood back and cast a spell instead of going into melee. Unfortunately the sorcerer resisted it so nothing happened. Paul flew off towards the corner to get out of the way of the combat.

Then the sorcerer conjured up 8 portals, one of which was right behind him. And then he turned around and shot a ray of frost through the one behind him. It then came out the 7 other portals, hitting everyone in their path. Oh joys.

Malek then shot an arrow at one of the portals, but it just bounced off the rock. OK, so one way portals got it. He then shot at the sorcerer as well, doing some damage. Vohn also attempted to shoot the sorcerer, but jammed his gun.

Thonk, seeing that these are one-way portals, proceeds to gain momentum on his swinging (remember, he's dangling from the ceiling via his "mage hand" like an orcish chandelier). And proceeds to launch himself towards the portal behind the sorcerer to make 7 Thonks. Unfortunately, it appears that the portal doesn't work that way so Thonk just bounced off the wall, shoving the sorcerer to the side a bit. Fizzledorp then rides in on his reindeer and thwacks the sorcerer.

Not happy with the way the portals are working and still not convinced getting up close with this sorcerer is a good idea (and frankly, she's had 2 near death experiences in the same game-day) Meghan elects to stand back and pulls out a big spell. Call lightning. It does a heck of a lot more damage if we're outside or in a storm, but it's still respectable indoors like we are. So she stands back and calls lightning straight down from the ceiling on the sorcerer.

He's unamused so he returns the favor, sending lightning bolt (different spell) through the portals after rearranging them. Several of us got hit for a lot of damage.

A couple more rounds of this sorcerer slinging spells through the portals and us beating the snot out of him though and we were successful in defeating him. We're not in the greatest shape, even Paul took a chunk of damage, but we were successful. Then one of us realized that he returned to the nightmare world and we needed to go after him there. So we all lay down, this room is fairly secure after all, and open the music box
