Episode 1410: Innocent bystanders

Another OG tale time! This group is currently looking for a Dragon Cultist who is leaving the cult and has promised us the Blue Dragon mask as payment for our rescuing him. Slight issue with this blog post, I was missing from it. So. I have just what my fellow players have told me. As a reminder, this bit of fun is brought to you by the following characters:

Tsedek, our charming Tiefling Rogue

Itanis, a devious High Elf Wizard, fond of controlling any situation we may find ourselves in

Leoven, our quiet but effective Wood Elf Ranger

Magnus, the Human Paladin of Heironious, he has followed a vengeance path

Elle, the small but sparky High Elf Wizard, fond of blowing things up with lots of fire

Last we left this group we had retrieved the Blue Dragon mask, but the turncoat cultist was thoroughly dead before we found him. Upon our leaving the wizard's tower, we found a Blue Dragon doing strafing runs on innocent towns people.

The Blue Dragon promptly demands the Blue Dragon Mask from us, and breathes lightning on some townsfolk.

Magnus instantly summons Storm, his gryphon, and offers Elle a lift. They may bicker like a couple of teenaged siblings, but a dragon destroying a town is an instant agreement moment. So off we go flying at the dragon. Seems like the totally safe thing to do.

Itanis went into his manipulate the world mode, creating barriers to protect the innocent townsfolk from the marauding Blue Dragon.

Leoven went into his lethal bow mode, set himself up to just pound the heck out of the dragon with arrows, doing impressive amounts of damage.

Tsedek turned invisible and started flying towards the dragon.

Magnus directs Storm to fly directly at the Blue Dragon, taunting him and getting his attention.

It did not go well. The summary I got from this first part is while Itanis controlled the world to protect the townsfolk and Leoven reigning death from arrows, Magnus flew straight at the Blue Dragon. Once we got in range, Elle threw a fireball one round, and cast Crown of Stars* the second round.

The part that didn't go well was the fact that the Blue Dragon breathed lightning on us. Twice. Killed Storm outright, and Elle was knocked out by taking two lightning based breath weapons in a row. Storm dying sent Magnus and Elle plummeting to the ground. Itanis, of course, shifted the world about so that we slid down a slide instead.

Once we hit the ground Magnus healed Elle and dimension doored onto the Blue Dragon's back. Because that's what he does. The dragon took a lot of offense to this, of course, and did a half barrel roll and deliberately plummeted himself into the ground, smashing Magnus between himself and the ground.
