Episode 1409: Success comes at a price

Another OG tale time! This group is currently looking for a Dragon Cultist who is leaving the cult and has promised us the Blue Dragon mask as payment for our rescuing him. As a reminder, this bit of fun is brought to you by the following characters:

Tsedek, our charming Tiefling Rogue

Elle, the small but sparky High Elf Wizard, fond of blowing things up with lots of fire

When we last left this group we had just cleaned out the most beautiful library of books we've seen in awhile, sending all those valuable tomes home, and discovered a room with a large crystal mirror depicting the plane of fire. And got attacked by swirling sheets of paper.

After dealing with the paper we went back to exploring the library and secret room with the large crystal mirror. After a bit of puttering about we realized there wasn't much of interest in this room given the time clock we were on, so we went over to the second secret room Tsedek located. This room too did not prove to be of much interest.

While we were finishing exploring this little library/office set up, Leoven was standing out in the hallway keeping guard. Suddenly we hear him yell as he dove back into the main room, narrowly avoiding some meteorites that came out of the night sky around the walkway. That certainly was interesting.

But, we all go back out onto the walkway and continue down to a T intersection. The top of the T is a smaller hall and there's a door directly in front of us, a door off to the left, and a curve off to the right.

Now, by this point we're tired, we're annoyed, and we're a bit frustrated. For a cultist that wants rescuing he's being a bit hard to find. Also, the meteorites are starting to harass us a bit more. So Magnus, in a fit of fits, bull rushes the door right in front of us. Drop kicks it right open and continues on in to do an epic fight!

With the broom closet. There's clattering and clacking of wooden brooms falling over and hitting him, probably some muttering, a few crashes of glass jars. There may have been a fair bit of not so subtle chuckling from Elle while this is going on.

Also while Magnus has his epic battle with the broom closet, Tsedek and Leoven sneak off down the curved hall. There they find an opening into a room with a devil type creature seated there playing chess. There's a line of salt around the room, including across the doorway. While they're fairly sure the devil type creature realizes they are there, it doesn't react. And they decide to not react either, turning around and returning to the main party. They report that the cultist is not down that end of the hall.

So we turn our attention to the other door in this hallway. Behind that door is a room with two gigantic hourglasses in it. Each is filled with sand a several small diamonds. There is also the body of a dead cultist. But he does have the Blue Dragon Mask in his possession. Magnus quickly secures the mask in his pack and checks over the dead cultist, but the man is quite gone at this point there's nothing we can do.

Itanis and Tsedek are checking out the giant hourglasses and one of them pull a lever that is there. With a horrible racket one of the hourglasses turns over, sending the sands through. After a bit of back and forth though it was decided to bust the glass out of the hourglasses and collecting the diamonds from the sand.

But, we got what we had came for, the Blue Dragon mask. We would have liked to rescue the turncoat cultist, but he was secondary to getting the mask. Returning to the room with the teleportation circle, we hit the last button, the right arrow. Which deposited us outside in the clearing with the sundial.

To find a Blue Dragon using his breath weapon (lightening) at will on the townsfolk, demanding the return of the Blue Dragon mask.

And that's where this session ended! Really!
