Episode 1308: We catch up to him, but we're not out of the woods yet

Today we're back to chasing Magnus all over creation while he is apparently under control of this damn power armor. This party consists of:

Tsedek, our charming Tiefling Rogue

Itanis, a devious High Elf Wizard, fond of controlling any situation we may find ourselves in

Leoven, our quiet but effective Wood Elf Ranger

Magnus, the Human Paladin of Heironious, he has followed a vengeance path

Elle, the small but sparky High Elf Wizard, fond of blowing things up with lots of fire

So when we last left this group, Magnus is suit-chugging across creation. He seems to be mostly following a straight-line path towards ... what, we do not know. He doesn't seem to be fazed by terrain, except for the swamp of course. The rest of the party is following along trying desperately to make up the head start he has.

Elle and Itanis are batting ideas back and forth while following our skilled ranger Leoven but so far nothing is gelling as yet. And this is quite tiring for those of us not in power armor. Eventually both Leoven and Itanis are starting to show early signs of fatigue. Elle and Tsedek aren't as yet but it's only a matter of time.

Then there was a loud thunderclap off in the distance. After a bit we came across a small mountain with burn marks in the ground around it. Yes, apparently, this power armor has rudimentary jets and can fly.

But now Itanis can assist us in making up some time. See, being an illusionist he can very much control the world around us now. So he finds a large flat slate-rock and us four step on it, and then he animates objects. The rock basically becomes an elevator carrying us up the side of the mountain. It moves at twice the speed we can, which is quite handy. Till we crested the mountain and realized we now need to get down the other side.

So Itanis creates a giant metal slide, complete with switch backs to keep the speed reasonable, and floats the stone into the slide and away we go down the slope. For the most part this works well, but Elle is not a strong person. Her strength is in her magic. So at one point Elle almost didn't make the turn with the strange toboggan, but Leoven activated his spider-cloak and reached out to grab her.

We make it to the base of the mountain and Itanis creates a small lake for us to skip across, dropping speed and safely coming to a stop on the far shore. And that's when we realize we actually are ahead of Magnus and the power suit. We see him flying straight for us.

So we wait for him to get close enough for Elle to try one of her reckless stunts. She misty steps up onto Magnus' shoulders. Yep, she's using his white dragon stunt against him. However, she realizes her idea to dimension door back out with just Magnus (sans the power suit) isn't going to work since he's completely unconscious.

Leoven creates a webbed area, and Itanis throws his impervious bubble around the power suit, which causes him to drop like a rock into the webbed area. Elle rides this down till about 10' off the ground and jumps off to clear the webbed area.

And that's where we left off. Due to some scheduling issues we will resume in two weeks.
