OK, confession time ... I messed up the ending of Ep 1221. I've gone back and fixed it, and you may want to reread it before starting this story as it'll make more sense that way.
Currently the party is in a mad scientist laboratory with a mad Mindflayer bargaining with Tsedek to let him (the Mindflayer) leave without harm. Elle's basically vibrating in place with a fireball at the ready in case the Mindflayer attacks the party again. Leoven is floating in an impenetrable sphere after being partially drained of blood by the Vampire formerly known as Mary and then having the Mindflayer attempt to latch on to his mind. Itanis is at the ready to control things as needed. And poor Magnus is stunned (like Leoven was for the past 2 game sessions haha). All caught up?
So the Mindflayer decides to make a break for it and goes running for the portal out of this room, past Elle, but doesn't quite have enough movement to make it to the portal so he turns and uses his stunning mind trick on Itanis (which fails). Which Elle took as an attack on the party and promptly fireballs the Mindflayer. Back into combat we go.
Tsedek finally realized the futility of negotiating with something as evil as a Mindflayer with this party and dashes up to him and does the whip-booming blade trick. This is the spell he uses when he wants to cause sound damage to a hit creature if they move.
Leoven, being greviously injured from the previous fight elects to heal himself this round. Elle tosses a firebolt at the Mindflayer and misses drat it. Itanis loves his control though so he puts up gust of wind going from him towards the portal to make it harder for the Mindflayer to get to the portal. Magnus manages to make his saving throw against the stun! But he doesn't get to act this round, his action was to break free of the mind blast.
Itanis' gust of wind shoved the Mindflayer towards the wall a bit so it elects to step forward and attack the closest party member ... which would be Elle. And his first attack would have hit too, but she used a reaction to throw up a magical shield. So he did a second attack on her, which also missed. Both should have hit, but the shield spell saved her.
However, because the Mindflayer moved, he took sonic damage from Tsedek's earlier booming-blade. And then Tsedek danced in, did a whole lot of rogue-ish damage, and slid over to the side. Sneaky fellow our Tsedek. Leoven got in on the action and shot arrows at the Mindflayer, sadly he missed though. Elle then did the light herself on fire trick and lobbed fire at the Mindflayer ... and it died.
So Magnus walks right up to it and smashes the Mindflayer's head, Galleger style. Which promptly unleased psychic damage at Magnus, Elle, and Tsedek. The latter two made their saving throws. Magnus, naturally, did not. So he was stunned for another minute.
Elle may have questioned his sanity and bloodline as she stalkled off, in Dwarvish knowing Magnus is the only one who would have understood what she was saying.
Leoven is completely and totally shaken up by this encounter, first the Vampire trying to drain him of his blood, then the Mindflayer trying to drain him of his brain. Elle, trying to grow up, walks up to Leoven and offers him her flask of Dwarven Whiskey. He does take a good long drink then goes off to walk around the room.
