OK so two weeks ago we left off with a hot mess. There's a Mindflayer, a Vampire (formerly known as Mary the Warlock), 2 steam mephits, and 7 flocks of bats harassing us. Mary the Vampire is nomming on Leoven who is still stunned and Itanis is mind-controlling the flocks of bats. Magnus is up in Mary's face because that is what he does, and Elle is on the table using a spell to suck the life force out of the Mindflayer as she's half damaged at this point. This is a combat heavy session.

OK, so we kick off today's rounds of combat with Tsedek shouting out in his gravelly Australian voice to not target the Mindflayer as he hasn't done anything to us. He then steps up to Mary the Vampire and lays into her hard with his blade.

Leoven is still stunned by the Mindflayer but is unsuccessful at getting out of the stun, so next up was Elle who is completely torn as to what to do. It's not looking good for Leoven but the Mindflayer really needs to be dealt with. So she drops the spell she has going, hops off the table she was standing on, and targets Mary the Vampire with a lightning bolt. Magnus uses his power armor (think a cross between iron man and the mechanical hulk suit) to grapple Mary off of Leoven, successfully.

Now to add to the fun, a few swarms of rats appear to start gnawing on us. So Itanis takes out his wand (he can't cast another spell while controlling the bats) and deals with one of the swarms of rats.

Mary takes this opportunity to turn into a wee bat and fly away ... which triggered a sonic boom from the damage Tsedek had done with his booming blade. It's always fun when it works out to thunder and lightning. The Mindflayer steps up next to Leoven but does not attack.

Tsedek moves off into some lab equipment to hide and prepare a spell if he can spot the bat form of Mary. Leoven, sadly, failed his attempt to break his stun again. Elle proceeds to start lighting up the world ... she tossed a fireball behind her to clean up the swarms of bats/rats lurking about so she could focus on the main fight. Bonus: she's destroying lab equipment by doing this.

Magnus then steps in between Leoven and the Mindflayer and just gives the Mindflayer a death glare while Itanis wands another swarm of rats into oblivion.

Mary then decides to attempt to rejoin the fray and goes flying towards Elle, which triggered Tsedek's readied spell. He used a suggestion type spell to tell her to return to her natural form. So she did. Right next to Leoven. Where she proceeds to bite and start draining Leoven again. *sigh*

Its not looking good for Leoven at this point, he's taken significant draining of health and total health. The Mindflayer decides to add to the chaos, and confusion, by stepping in front of Leoven and attacking Mary. Magnus has a trick where he gets to take an attack of opportunity against an target that's within 5 feet of Magnus when that target attacks someone other than Magnus. Yeah, Paladins, they're a protective sort. So Magnus does this against the Mindflayer. Elle's so very confused at this point, one party member is saying don't hit the Mindflayer, another hitting the Mindflayer.

The Mindflayer also does his stunning blast again, stunning Mary, destroying a few more of the swarms of bats/rats ... and stunning Magnus.

So, back to the combat. Tsedek steps up to Mary and does a lot more damage to her, she's stunned so she doesn't get defenses. Leoven, again, fails his saving throw against the stun. Elle uses another fireball to help clean up some of the bats/rats but lands it in such a position that it'll also get Mary and the Mindflayer. She has excluded party members only from the damage. Magnus is unable to break out of his stun.

And the Mindflayer polishes off Mary by doing what he does best, sucks the brain out of her with a slurp and a pop. She drops dead. The Mindflayer then wraps his tentacles around the stunned Leoven and shouts "Back off or the Elf gets it".

Itanis drops his control over the bats at this point and casts his protection sphere on Leoven, breaking the Mindflayer's hold on him.

So now we have Tsedek telling the Mindflayer to leave, the Mindflayer asking for reassurances the rest of the party won't harm him more. Magnus is still stunned but Leoven finally breaks his stun and moves away from the Mindflayer. Elle's practically vibrating in place with a spell at the ready but not attacking the Mindflayer while Tsedek negotiates with it. She's uncertain what she's supposed to do at this point.

And that's how we left the game today.
